Overview

Stamped concrete lives or dies on the prep

The failures you’ve seen — random cracks, faded color, a slick surface — almost always trace to skipped steps: no compacted sub-grade, no reinforcement, control joints in the wrong place or missing, and a cheap seal.

We compact and moisten the sub-grade, set forms to drainage fall, place reinforcement, and pour at a workable slump. Base color is integral, accent color is broadcast with the release as we stamp, and once it’s cured we cut control joints on plan and apply a UV-stable, slip-modified sealer.

What’s included

Every job, these four stages

Sub-grade & forms

Compacted, moistened sub-grade; forms set to positive drainage away from the house; reinforcement placed.

Pour & finish

Concrete placed, screeded, and floated to a consistent surface ready for stamping.

Color & stamping

Integral base color, broadcast accent and release, stamp mats worked in sequence for a natural, non-repeating texture.

Joints, cure & seal

Control joints cut on plan, proper cure, then a UV-stable sealer with grit added for slip resistance.

Why it lasts

Keeping the color and killing the cracks

Concrete will crack — the craft is controlling where. We place control joints at the right spacing and at re-entrant corners so movement is hidden in the joint pattern, not sprawled across the slab.

For color that lasts, base pigment goes through the whole slab so surface wear never exposes raw grey, and the sealer is UV-stable and re-coatable. Plan on a re-seal every 2–3 years in full sun to keep it rich.

Questions about concrete stamping

Will it crack?

All concrete moves. We control it with a compacted sub-grade, reinforcement, and control joints placed on plan so any cracking follows the joint lines. We don’t promise zero hairlines — anyone who does is guessing.

Is it slippery when wet?

We add a slip-resistant grit to the sealer, which handles most pool-deck and walkway situations. Tell us if anyone in the house has mobility concerns and we’ll adjust the finish.

How often does it need sealing?

Every 2–3 years in full inland sun keeps the color rich and the surface protected. It’s a quick re-coat, not a redo.

Stamped concrete or pavers?

Stamped is usually lower up-front and gives a seamless look. Pavers won’t crack and repair more easily. We’ll lay out both for your project.
