Overview

A green is a grading job first

Putting turf is short, dense, and unforgiving — it shows every imperfection in the base. So the work is in the grading: a compacted stone base, laser-checked for plane, with the subtle falls and contours you asked for built in on purpose.

Then the putting turf goes down tight and seamed invisibly, cups and collars are set, and the surface is infilled and rolled until the speed is even end to end. We finish the perimeter with a taller fringe turf so chips and long putts have a realistic surround.

What’s included

Every job, these four stages

Layout & shot planning

We map the green to your yard — size, number of holes, break, fringe, and any chipping approach — and mark it out before digging.

Laser-graded base

Stone base built in compacted lifts and graded to plane, with designed contours and drainage fall.

Putting surface & cups

Tour-style putting turf seamed tight, regulation cups and collars set to depth, infilled and rolled for even speed.

Fringe & cleanup

Taller fringe turf around the perimeter, contours blended, site cleaned, and a roll-test walk-through with you.

Why it lasts

Speed you can count on

Green speed comes from turf choice, infill amount, and how well the base holds its plane. We tune infill during install and roll repeatedly, checking pace from multiple directions so one side isn’t quicker than the other.

Inland sun is hard on short turf, so we use UV-stable putting lines and set drainage fall you won’t notice underfoot but that clears water fast after a storm or an overspray from the sprinklers.

Questions about putting greens

How much room do I need?

A useful two- or three-hole green fits in as little as 200–300 sq ft. More space buys you longer putts and a chipping approach. We’ll lay out options at the estimate.

Can you build in break?

Yes. Tell us the putts you want to practice and we grade the contours in on purpose — that’s the whole point of a laser-graded base.

What upkeep does it need?

Brush the fringe occasionally, keep leaves off, and re-level infill in traffic lanes once or twice a year. That’s about it.

Will it hold up to sprinklers hitting it?

It’s graded to drain, so overspray clears fast. We’d still aim to keep heads off the surface where we can.
